Katie
Katie discovered Pilates over twenty years ago through a serendipitous Glamour magazine article about this "exciting new workout." What began as discounted classes from a friend before her wedding evolved into a lifelong practice that has sustained her through major life milestones. She was drawn to Pilates' emphasis on precision and mindfulness—qualities that helped her maintain focus while completing her PhD in Anthropology and continue to serve her well today.
As a high school World History teacher and nonprofit founder dedicated to helping families develop personalized education philosophies, Katie relies on Pilates for both physical strength and mental clarity. The practice gives her the agility and centeredness needed to navigate busy days filled with teenagers, organizational leadership, and family life.
When she's not teaching or on the mat, Katie can be found at home in Reston with her husband, daughter, two spirited cats, and one lovably unruly Mastiff—a household that definitely keeps her Pilates balance skills sharp.
